The Pharaoh's Animal Kingdom Dominoes consist of 7 hieroglyphic figures of animals that existed in ancient Egypt.
The game was produced in collaboration with the Archaeology Department at the Israel Museum as part of the “Pharaoh’s Animal Kingdom” exhibition.
The characters in the game:
- The scarab – in Egypt, it was a symbol of protection and good luck.
- The cobra snake – in Egypt, it was a symbol of royalty and protection.
- The duck – in Egypt, it was a symbol of abundance and renewal.
- The owl – in Egypt, was a symbol of the mysteries of the world of the dead.
- The cat – was a symbol of protection and guardianship in Egypt.
- The hippopotamus – in Egypt, was a symbol of fertility and life.
- The lion – in Egypt, it was a symbol of power and royalty.
More than 5,000 years ago, the ancient Egyptian civilization grew up on the banks of the Nile River. In this culture, animals were given a place of honor. Many of them lived on the Nile, on its green banks and in the deserts beyond. The ancient Egyptians lived alongside them and other animals that they brought from faraway places. Animals were important to them, they used them to perform various tasks and even raised them as pets.
